Each Friday our secondary students gather for Chapel. Eagle Song led us in worship followed by a message from Pastor McFarland giving us an overview of Psalms and reminding us of the importance of God's Word and the beauty in taking time to pause and listen to Him.

Small class sizes allow our teachers more opportunities to give one-with-one support to students. This is especially important at the start of the year when teachers are assessing where students are at and then able to make decisions early on that will best support each individual student's learning journey for the year.
Mornings are for Math! And we caught 3rd grade, 5th grade, and 6th grade working hard reviewing concepts they learned last year!
Mrs. Garner and the 9th graders took their learning outside today for a Biology scavenger hunt!
After reviewing their new vocabulary words, the class headed out with a bucket and a partner to hunt for things like an autotroph, a gymnosperm, and an Eukaryote.
The first Friday of the year means Secondary Retreat and what a great day our 7-12th graders had! A very special thank you to our host church, Calvary Lawrence, for your amazing hospitality today!
We started the day with breakfast and gathered for worship. Followed by our houses creating their house flag and chant for the year. For our service project we headed across the road to Bridgepoint Church where we helped spruce up the landscaping. The afternoon was spent with house competitions where each house hosted a game. We ended the hot day with Kona Ice for everyone!
We love getting to see our students connect with one another outside of the classroom and across grade levels and watch our upper class grow in their leadership from year to year!

Our administration team recently spent a few days at the Herzog Foundation leadership retreat. They are feeling refreshed and are looking forward to sharing what they have learned at our professional development days coming up next week and welcoming our students back very soon!

We're excited for the year ahead and can't wait to see how God will work through our faculty, staff, and students in the coming months!
Last week our Head of School, Mrs. Biggerstaff, attended the ACCS Repairing the Ruins Conference where Veritas was officially recognized for accreditation. The following statement came from the ACCS page:
"ACCS accreditation is the only widely recognized and accepted accreditation specifically designed for classical Christian schools. The accreditation process is rigorous and generally takes 12 – 24 months to complete. Achieving ACCS accreditation is quite a feat, and these schools deserve recognition"
We are thrilled to receive this recognition and what this means for VCS and the path forward.

Throughout the week, students will collaborate, create, rehearse, and build confidence as they prepare for a special performance on Friday evening!
